Architect Enran Zhang hosts launch event for RIBA China Chapter’s Women in Architecture Digital Nexus programme
Enran Zhang, from our Shanghai studio, recently hosted the launch event for the RIBA China Chapter’s Women in Architecture Digital Nexus (WIADN) programme, an initiative proposed by her.
The inaugural event, on the theme of “Women as architects: the aspirations, the success, the sweat and the struggle”, took place in Shanghai on 28 January, with female architects speaking about their experiences, the challenges they have faced and the ways in which women in architecture can be empowered.
Part 1
Enran, as Honorary Secretary of the RIBA China Chapter, hosted the event and chaired the “Ask the Architects” roundtable discussion, with the panel including several female practitioners from the Chinese architectural industry.
The WIADN is an online platform within which female architects can connect with each other in China and globally. The aim is to foster a mutually supportive environment and to promote a higher proportion of female Chinese architects within the traditionally male-dominated profession.
Part 2
A series of monthly events will look at key topics relevant to women practising architecture, with the discussions uploaded to the RIBA website, YouTube and the British Council website.
