Celebrating Black Art and Culture with Landsec
We’d like to pass on our huge thanks to the team at Landsec for inviting us to sponsor its ‘celebrating black art and culture’ event on Thursday 20th of October, alongside CBRE and We Rise In, for Black History Month.
The event took place at Landsec’s 100 Victoria Street offices and showcased black excellence in live music, poetry, comedy, art and food. Colleagues from our Bristol, London and Manchester studios enjoyed a very inspiring evening, celebrating the various cultures and creative talent within the black community.
Hosted by the incredibly talented Don One MC, we were treated to music from 4Stringz and Jermaine Jones, moving poetry from Henry Stone and Curmiah Lisette, and we joined in the dancing with an uplifting closing set from singer Shola Ama.
The aims of the event align closely with our desire as an organisation to create greater opportunities, diversity and equality throughout our studios and the wider design and construction sector. We are currently working with organisations such as Regeneration Brainery to help provide young people with some insight into what it means to be an architect or interior designer, what we do, how we work, and the education options that exist to train and pursue a design-led career. Achieving greater diversity is essential and the creation of a broader group of talented people will help foster greater creativity.
