Chapman Taylor among finalists in AJ/Crown Estates Future Retail Destinations competition
Chapman Taylor is delighted to be one of the final 12 architectural teams selected from almost 70 entries to take part in the AJ/Crown Estate Future Retail Destinations competition.
The competition asks designers to reimagine out-of-town shopping destinations for 2030 and beyond.
Chapman Taylor’s entry envisages a future in which retail spaces are ‘hyperlocal’, bringing together a mix of uses in sustainable, landscaped environments. Enjoyment, entertainment and experience will be the main features of the successful future retail development.
The proposal sees retail as one part of a community approach to placemaking. Residences and workplaces will create a multigenerational environment, with leisure uses providing an all-day experience for all.
Meanwhile, logistics will have been transformed, with provision made for AI, drone services, user-interface technology and many other innovations. Environmental responsibility will be a cornerstone of all future retail development designs.
Congratulations to the team, Partner Adrian Griffiths, Associate Director Daniel Morgans, Architect Leanne Broadhead, Director Marcelina Zielinska, Savills and the rest of the Chapman Taylor team for their successful design entry.
