Chapman Taylor appointed to modernise RKS Marymont Stadium and OSiR Żoliborz sports complex in Warsaw
Chapman Taylor has been appointed by Warsaw’s Żoliborz District Office to create architectural and urban design concepts for the modernisation of Warsaw’s well-known RKS Marymont Stadium and the adjacent OSiR Żoliborz sport and recreation complex.
Director Rafał Giersz, from our Warsaw studio, signed a cooperation agreement with Michał Szpakiewicz, Director of OSiR Żoliborz, on Thursday 20 May. Chapman Taylor was chosen due to our worldwide experience in designing sports venues, including stadiums, and their surrounding districts to the highest international standards.
The brief for RKS Marymont Stadium seeks the modernisation, renovation or reconstruction of the existing facilities, except for the pitch area. In April and May, the management board of the Żoliborz District Office and the director of OSiR Żoliborz consulted with representatives from various sports clubs and other stakeholders to hear their views and define their requirements in relation to the modernisation of the OSiR Żoliborz complex and RKS Marymont stadium.
Chapman Taylor’s redevelopment will take account of these views as well as the history of the site, creating design concepts which provide the highest safety standards, accessibility for people with disabilities, functional efficiency and creative vibrancy.
The first phase of work will focus on the development of an appropriate and exciting urban concept for the wider RKS Marymont area, following which design documentation will be prepared. In the second phase, the stadium and facilities such as stands, changing rooms, technical rooms and utilities will be modernised.
Chapman Taylor has considerable experience of designing stadiums, large sport and leisure venues and their surrounding environments across the world. We know how to create designs which meet the highest technical specifications to create world-class facilities which provide exciting, enjoyable and safe venues for participants and spectators alike.
