Chapman Taylor Architectural Technologist, Isabelle Barron, to represent the UK at EuroSkills 2023
Chapman Taylor is thrilled to announce that Isabelle Barron, a technologist based in the Manchester studio, has been selected to represent the UK at EuroSkills 2023, sometimes called ‘the skills Olympics’, in Gdansk, Poland. EuroSkills is an international competition that showcases vocational skills across Europe.
Isabelle has been working at Chapman Taylor for just under a year after graduating from Sheffield Hallam University. She was introduced to the WorldSkills competition while at university and has since competed in the National Finals, winning a silver medal in 2022. Following her success, she was selected to join Squad UK and has now been chosen to represent the UK in digital construction at EuroSkills.
Digital construction skills involve creating BIM models to ISO 19650 standards and performing clash detection, among other tasks, using software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud. Competitors have to complete these tasks within strict time frames as per the BEP (BIM Execution Plan), which includes other project information such as file, level, and workset naming standards.
Isabelle is immensely proud to represent the UK and grateful for this opportunity to develop herself while meeting amazing people. She has been giving up most of her spare time in the evenings and weekends to train and plans to continue doing so in the lead up to EuroSkills to give herself the best possible chance of winning a medal.
Isabelle said, "I am incredibly excited to have been selected to represent the UK at EuroSkills. I'm most looking forward to walking out during the opening ceremony as part of Team UK and waving the flag for the country. This competition will give me an opportunity to develop my technical ability and mindset training, which I hope to use to continue to improve as a technologist. I am grateful for the guidance and support of my colleagues at Chapman Taylor on my WorldSkills journey."
Chapman Taylor is proud to support Isabelle in her WorldSkills journey and is excited to see her represent the UK at EuroSkills 2023.
