Chapman Taylor showcases its Urban Design expertise at the Urban Planning Society of China annual conference
Chapman Taylor recently presented its urban design capabilities at the 2023 Annual Conference of the Urban Planning Society of China in Kunming, Yunnan. The conference, organized by the International Urban Planning Branch of the Urban Planning Society of China (IUPB-UPSC), took place at Yunnan University.
Director Chris Lanksbury delivered a keynote speech on June 24th, focusing on the theme of "Urban differences & similarities in the Belt & Road regions." The speech showcased Chapman Taylor's extensive experience in urban design across various regions, including China, Europe, MENA, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia. The presentation featured case studies relevant to the Chinese Governments “Belt and Road” Initiative.
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is a global development strategy initiated by the Chinese government to promote economic cooperation and connectivity across continents, served as the backdrop for the conference. The BRI aims to enhance infrastructure development, trade, and cultural exchanges through the construction of transportation networks.
Chris further participated in a panel discussion, elaborating on the importance of balancing regional differences and similarities in urban design to achieve sustainable and integrated developments.
The conference drew participation from both offline attendees at Yunnan University and an extensive online audience, with live broadcasting reaching over 8,200 viewers.
