Beijing - Tsinghua Academy Design Forum: International Design Exchange
On May 24th, Director Chris Lanksbury took part in an event organised by the Architectural Design & Research Institute of Tsinghua University Co., LTD. (THAD) at the prestigious Tsinghua University Design Centre. Co-hosted by THAD and Chapman Taylor, this event was a part of the "Tsinghua Academy Design Forum: International Design Exchange" series.
The event began with an opening address by Mr. Liu Yulong, Vice President and Chief Architect of THAD. During the forum, Chris delivered a compelling presentation titled "International Perspectives on Successful Urban Placemaking." Drawing from Chapman Taylor's extensive international project portfolio he shared valuable insights and experiences about the process and principles of successful urban design in many different cultural and social environments. The presentation was followed by an engaging Q&A session with Chris and Shanghai Director Johnny Jiang. The speech was watched by over 4,500 people online.
Hangzhou - International Forum on Modern Urban Architecture Design and Public Space Planning
On May 26th, Chris Lanksbury participated in the International Forum on Modern Urban Architecture Design and Public Space Planning in Hangzhou. This forum, organised by ‘Youth Architect’ and supported by the China Urban Economics Research Institute, aimed to bring together global experts and scholars in the field of urban architecture and public space planning.
The forum explored the latest research findings, development trends, and challenges in contemporary urban architecture design and public space planning. Renowned experts from a number of major architectural practices took part in the event.
During his speech, Chris showcased several successful projects by Chapman Taylor, emphasising the firm's expertise in creating functional and aesthetically pleasing urban spaces that cater to the needs and aspirations of local communities. He also shared insights into Chapman Taylor’s collaborative design approach, which involves close engagement with stakeholders and government bodies to ensure projects align with the city's vision and objectives.
