Chapman Taylor's design concept for revitalisation of Peterborough shopping centre

Serpentine Green, a tired shopping centre in Hampton, Peterborough, is to be redeveloped and modernised into a vibrant new retail and leisure destination by Chapman Taylor.

Proposals for the rejuvenation of the 18 year-old centre will be part of a public consultation ahead of the planning application to Peterborough City Council in September this year.

The vision is to create a high quality inclusive retail, F&B and leisure environment inspired by nature, using natural materials and references to create vibrant public spaces surrounded by high-quality contemporary buildings.

Local residents will be able to view the proposed £ 50 million redevelopment which combines an array of new retail units, a new town square for outdoor events, 11,359 sq m. of leisure attractions and additional 1,848 sq m. of new restaurants and cafes. The centre, which attracts over 5.5 million visitors a year, was in need of an upgrade and the new project will accommodate the growing neighbourhood creating new facilities, and an exciting place for the community and surrounding areas to visit.

The project is due to be submitted for planning approval in September.
