Chapman Taylor’s transformative design for Parque Corredor shopping centre in Madrid unveiled
Chapman Taylor’s Concept Design for the transformation of Parque Corredor shopping centre in north-east Madrid has been unveiled.
The 123,000m² shopping centre, acquired earlier this year by Redevco Iberian Adventures (a Joint Venture between Redevco and Ares Management), will be converted into a more modern retail and leisure space.
Parque Corredor is already one of the largest shopping centres in Spain, with 11 million visitors in the past year. It houses a 24,000m² Alcampo hypermarket, an eight-screen cinema and well-known retail names such as Inditex, H&M, Mango, C&A and Primark – all served by a 4,000-space car park.
The centre’s renewal will create new façades and entrance experiences, including the use of interactive digital technology, while the common areas will be enlarged and made more relaxing. Shopfronts will be renovated to provide more visibility for the interior offers.
Sustainability is at the core of the design, with energy-efficient LED lighting used throughout along with thermally efficient materials and abundant natural lighting. The design targets BREEAM certification for the renewed building.
