Colombia: Laying of the first stone at Two 2 Towers, Santa Marta
On the 20th of January, Chapman Taylor, The Urban Planning Manager of the Government of Magdalena, Mr. Carlos Francisco Díaz Granados, together with the British Ambassador for Colombia, Mr. Lindsay Croisdale-Appebly, participated in a laying the first stone ceremony at our prestigious Two 2 Towers project.
Two 2 Towers, Bello Horizonte, Santa Marta, Colombia, is an innovative architectural project consisting of two magnificent towers based on a podium. This unique building is designed to pay homage to its surrounding landscape by representing the image of a cruise ship in motion, with the bow towards the sea and sails in the wind. It includes a 100-room hotel, leisure premises, restaurants and recreational activities spread over 16 floors. One of the largest 6-bedroom apartments has already been purchased by Real Madrid's midfielder, James Rodríguez.
Mr Fransisco Diaz Granados said “This project will power tourism and will become an important source of employment and progress for the Samaria and Magdalensense community.”
The project incorporates photovoltaic panels, a method of generating electrical power by converting sunlight into electricity using semiconducting materials. Wind turbines on the roof also mitigate the energy consumption that the building will demand in its lifespan. These sustainability features, and its unique appearance, will make this an iconic building in the local area when completed in 2016.
Attendees included officers from the British Embassy in Colombia, investment companies and communication media, and local construction company representatives, amongst others.
Chapman Taylor designed this iconic project and will oversee the architecture and interior design for all design stages.
