Cornerstone laid at Galeria Victoria, Wałbrzych, Poland
The cornerstone of the first shopping centre in Wałbrzych, designed by Chapman Taylor Warsaw team, has been laid during a ceremony, attended by the local authorities, investors and media representatives.
“The ceremony is the third milestone in the process of Galeria Victoria’s development, after securing the building permit and starting the construction in February this year,” said Richard Keen, the Managing Director of Keen Property Partners, the developer of the project. He added that work is proceeding according to schedule.
Galeria Victoria will be constructed on a 10ha plot, located on a former mining site, and will comprise approximately 45,000m² of retail space. The development will be the first modern retail and entertainment centre in Wałbrzych, introducing international retail brands, a multiplex cinema, restaurants and cafes.
The President of Wałbrzych said that ‘the development will improve the overall image of Wałbrzych’. He continued: ‘Shopping centres are a vital element of local communities and Galeria Victoria will be the focal point of Wałbrzych, creating a variety of opportunities’.
The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2010 and 60% of retail area has already been let. Investors claim that Galeria Victoria will be one of the best designed and the most successful centres in Poland.
