First phase of Auchan shopping centre refurbishment at Rescaldina, Milan, completed

The first phase of the refurbishment of the Auchan shopping centre in Rescaldina, near Milan, has completed.

The refurbishment, designed by Chapman Taylor’s Milan studio, was focused on transforming two galleries and two plazas. The interior galleries, systems, parking as well as horizontal and vertical paths are all being renovated.

The shopping centre is known as “Le Porte dei Laghi”. The design of the new spaces – the blue ‘Water Gallery’ and the green ‘Mountain Gallery’ – makes it seem as if the natural colours and elements of the surrounding environment enter through the doors – this effect is a key focal point and symbol of the renewed development.

The second phase will involve an extension of the existing building, with construction set to start soon. Work is continuing on restyling the façades of the shopping centre.
