First phase of Shopping Promenade Claye-Souilly opens near Paris
The first phase of Shopping Promenade Claye-Souilly, a new retail and leisure precinct near Paris, has opened to the public.
Due to Covid-19-related delays to the construction schedule, developer Frey Group chose to open the first 20 units completed out of the 40 stores and 15 restaurants initially planned. The others are scheduled to complete in early summer.
Located in a premium shopping area which is already home to the most successful Carrefour hypermarket in the Paris region, Shopping Promenade Claye-Souilly is a new concept in French retail, housing 40 shops, leisure functions and eight restaurants in its 40,000m² GLA of space. Among the brands available will be well-known national and international fashion, beauty, F&B and other names, including the Mos Eisley, a bar designed to replicate its namesake in the Star Wars film franchise.
The shops will be medium-sized, offering sports, culture and home and DIY outlets. Bowling and go-karting facilities will be provided, along with a 400-seat, three-screen cinema. There will also be a dental practice and an ophthalmology practice on site. The development will be served by 1,450 parking spaces.
The scheme is spread over 12 hectares, linked by a new road junction to the busy N3. The scheme offers 7.7 hectares of green space, more than 16,000 m² of green roofs, a nature path to the forest and a nearby educational farm.
It is predicted that the new shopping centre will attract six million visitors per year when fully open, along with 400 jobs for the region.
Chapman Taylor’s Paris studio is providing the architectural design for this new Paris shopping destination on behalf of Frey Group, having previously designed the award-winning first Shopping Promenade venue – Shopping Promenade Coeur Picardie in Amiens – which opened in October 2017.
