Forum Istanbul - City within the City
Last year Chapman Taylor completed over 40 projects in 17 countries.
One of the most important completions of the year was Forum Istanbul. With 495,000 m² total construction area, 175,000m² rentable space and 265 national and international brands represented, it is the largest shopping centre in the region (and even in Europe, beating Westfield in terms of its size).
It opened its doors to public on 16th November in Bayrampasa area in Istanbul with a total investment of €750 Million.
Located at crossroads of two important motorways, metro line, and the largest regional bus station. Forum Istanbul aims to draw 25 million visitors per year and an annual turnover of €500 million.
The concept of a ‘city within the city’, was developed as an integral part of Istanbul’s structure and as continuation of Bayrampasa’s urban fabric. This unique development adds a new dimension to the existing retail market in the region. The scheme features the quality of a contemporary urban experience with boulevards, piazzas, avenues, courtyards and monumental buildings. The interplay of these elements created streets with long views and narrow lanes with shadows and contrasts in scale, and public squares with different spatial qualities. Public areas are beautifully landscaped and offer suitable space for festivals, concerts, markets and sport events.
Chapman Taylor España was appointed in June 2007 by Multi TurkMall to develop the exterior and interior design based on a concept prepared by T+T Design (Gouda) and BDP, and to assist on site during its execution.
