Her Majesty The Queen visits The Lexicon in Bracknell
Her Majesty the Queen visited The Lexicon at Bracknell on Friday 19 October, where she unveiled a commemorative plaque.
The Queen toured the successful and award-winning development and was introduced to some of the development’s retailers and stakeholders as well as local people.
Opened in September 2017, the redevelopment provides a vibrant, mixed-use shopping and leisure environment. The scheme includes 70 retail, F&B and leisure units and a 1,300-space car park. With restaurants and bars fronting brand new public streets and squares, and a 12-screen Cineworld cinema, the area has brought the town of Bracknell to life day and night. The Lexicon has proved to be very popular with local residents and those from surrounding areas.
The redevelopment formed part of a £240m scheme by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership to transform the town centre.
As well as acting as Delivery Architect for MACE on the project, Chapman Taylor planned and designed one of the two key components of the scheme at Charles Square – connecting the brand new Northern Quarter to the existing Princess Square Centre.
In December 2017, The Lexicon won a Gold Award in the Re:new category and the ‘Best of the Best’ award in the Re:turn category at the UK’s prestigious Revo Gold Retail Awards.
