International Women’s Day 2025

#AccelerateAction

Each year on March 8th, people around the world come together to celebrate International Women's Day (IWD)—a movement officially recognised by the United Nations since 1977 but rooted in early 20th-century labour movements. More than just a celebration, IWD serves as a global call to action. In 2025, the message is clear: #AccelerateAction.

At Chapman Taylor, we have seen steady progress across our 15 international studios, both in response to local contexts and on a global scale. From hosting, sponsoring, and supporting events that promote a more equitable workplace to organising CPDs and training on workplace behaviours, unconscious bias, and professional development, we have made meaningful strides forward. Our commitment also includes supporting apprenticeships, educational programs, and work experience initiatives, helping to cultivate a more diverse and inclusive pipeline of future talent.

As we celebrate another International Women’s Day, it’s important to acknowledge the progress made over the past year at Chapman Taylor. As a global business, we recognise that different countries and cultures are at varying stages of this journey. In support of this year’s "Accelerate Action" initiative, we are launching the Chapman Taylor Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) International Task Force to drive meaningful change across our practice. This group will bring together a diverse range of voices from across our international team, ensuring a truly inclusive approach.

We will prioritise actively supporting and collaborating with organisations that advocate for equity in the built environment, encouraging partnerships that drive meaningful industry-wide change. We are also committed to enhancing our continuous professional development (CPD) program by integrating a stronger focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), promoting workplace well-being, and advancing initiatives supporting women’s health.

The insights gained from these discussions will be instrumental in assessing our progress as a global practice, enabling well-informed recommendations to the Group Board to drive meaningful and accelerated change within the business and the broader industry. Our studios are already at the forefront in key areas, and we remain committed to sharing best practices, refining our strategies, and ensuring culturally sensitive responses as we strive toward a more equitable future for all.
