Chapman Taylor will be speaking and participating in Bisnow's Build To Rent Annual Conference, taking place on 11th-12th June in Canary Wharf, London. The conference will bring together industry experts to discuss the future of build-to-rent (BtR) and explore strategies for raising capital, increasing deal flow, and staying ahead of the competition in the evolving BtR market.

Chapman Taylor will be well-represented at the conference, with Director Michael Swiszczowski giving a presentation on ‘BtR as an advocate for placemaking and planning policy’ before participating in a panel discussion on ‘Rented Residential’s Social Impact and Leaning to Navigate Planning’. The session will feature esteemed industry professionals, including Nigel Hugill CEO of Urban and Civic, Freya Richard from Vertus, Jamie Snary from Apache Capital, Kye Gbangbola from Smarter Services, and will be moderated by Nicki Kyriacou from NHBC.

In addition to Michael, Chapman Taylor will be represented by Marcelina Zielinska, Director; Richard Daw, Associate Director; Gerard Ellis, Associate Director; Simon Pitt, Associate Director; and Anil Tailor, Associate Director. This diverse team of professionals will be available to connect with attendees and share insights on BtR design and development.

The conference program will cover a wide range of topics relevant to the BtR sector. Michael Swiszczowski (BA(Hons), MArch, ADPPA, ARB, RIBA)

Director, UK

Michael joined Chapman Taylor in 2016 to strengthen the practice’s residential expertise. He joined the UK Board in 2022 and continues to take an active role in developing the practice’s residential and hospitality sectors across the UK business.

He has experience working on award-winning residential projects, with a particular focus on Build-to-Rent, student accommodation, hotels, serviced apartments and modular construction.

Michael is a regular speaker at residential and property conferences where he articulates Chapman Taylor’s design approach and skill sets. He is also a RIBA-elected member of the Regional Council for RIBA North West.

Marcelina Zielinska (MSC Arch and Urb Des, RIBA, FRSA)

Director, UK

Marcelina has extensive experience of all design stages on a diverse range of projects of various scales, from individual buildings to large urban masterplans.

She has a particular passion for high street regeneration, with a talent for anticipating future trends in retail and leisure and the impact they will have on town centres. Her current projects include heritage-sensitive masterplans for historic city centres.

As an architect and urban designer, Marcelina understands the importance of placemaking and of combining uses to create socially, commercially and environmentally sustainable communities, both in the UK and internationally.

Marcelina has been with Chapman Taylor since March 2007, when she joined the company to help deliver St. David’s 2 in Cardiff. Marcelina was promoted to the UK Board in 2023.

Richard joined Chapman Taylor in 2021 with a particular focus on helping to grow Chapman Taylor’s residential design capability in Manchester. Richard brings a unique perspective to holistic living and workplace trends thanks to his former experience in managing a flexible workspace start-up.

Richard is highly experienced in several sectors, including residential, workplace, retail and education projects, and is skilled at blending the different uses in mixed-use projects. He is well placed to offer our clients a unique view on the growing Build-to-Rent sector from both an architectural and management perspective.

Gerard Ellis (BSc(Hons) MArch PG Cert (Part 3))

Since joining Chapman Taylor, Gerard has successfully led the Castle Park View scheme through the concept design and planning stages. He has particular expertise in early-stage concept and feasibility design, projects with heritage aspects and the planning stages on residential, office and mixed-use schemes. Gerard is a member of Chapman Taylor's in-house Residential, Office and Mixed-Use Sector Groups.

Anil joined Chapman Taylor in 2023 with a particular focus on helping to grow Chapman Taylor’s residential design capability in London. With over 20 years’ experience, Anil has run both new build and renovation projects in the UK and internationally in a wide range of sectors including residential, retail, healthcare, transport and education.

Anil prides himself on his attention to detail on and off site and has exceptional freehand, model-making and CAD skills.
