Le Spot at Evry 2 in Île-de-France Shortlisted for Global MAPIC Award 2024

Chapman Taylor's design for Le Spot at the Evry 2 shopping centre in Île-de-France has been shortlisted by our client SCC for the esteemed MAPIC Award 2024 in the ‘Best Refurbishment Project’ category.

Since its inception in 1996, the MAPIC Awards have celebrated pioneering projects in retail real estate, honouring innovation, sustainability, and creativity. The ‘Best Refurbishment Project’ category recognises the transformation of existing retail spaces into vibrant, multi-use destinations that meet modern economic and community needs.

Le Spot: A New Kind of Destination

Le Spot was conceived as part of a major restructuring of Evry 2, a key regional shopping centre in Île-de-France. With an investment of €150 million, this reimagined space represents a new urban focal point, blending public amenities—including a swimming pool, ice rink, theatre, and media library—with private retail spaces. Anchored by a 10,000m2 food court, Le Spot integrates leisure, culture, sports, shopping, and dining in one interconnected location—an unprecedented model for France.

The project transformed underused office areas into a covered square with terraces, restaurants, and new retail kiosks, creating a lively and engaging public space. An undulating canopy, supported by V-shaped metal columns, adds visual interest to the Place des Terrasses. At the same time, the white lacquered aluminium facades provide a modern, light aesthetic that minimises additional structural weight.

The winners will be announced on November 27 at the MAPIC Awards Gala in Cannes, France.
