Chapman Taylor in Bangkok wins competition to renovate the ‘British Club’
Located in central Bangkok, the British Club is an exclusive members-only club that was established in 1903 and features a beautiful Thai colonial-era clubhouse.
The renovation brief was to redevelop the existing 1,000m2 1960’s facilities building and add additional facilities such as kids activity zones, international standard squash courts, games rooms, a sports bar and spa areas that will entice a younger demographic and drive the British Club into a new era.
Our design concept was inspired by the Union Jack flag which we ‘draped’ over the club to add the Union Jacks unique flag geometry onto the building. We also proposed a series of bold prefabricated architectural elements that are both practical and aesthetically interesting that will be applied to the façade.
The renovation design is intended to complement the existing clubhouse but bring it up to date creating an architectural timeline for the British Club.
