New urban design for Jiangjin Central Business District in the Chinese city of Chongqing
Chapman Taylor has developed an attractive and sustainable masterplan concept for Jiangjin Central Business District (CBD) in the Chinese city of Chongqing.
The 30-hectare site will be home to four signature tower buildings, two shopping centres and a commercial block, with a total building volume of 10 million m2. The commercial block will be the core of the business district, providing state-of-the-art facilities for a range of industries, while the modern and elegant towers, with their rooftop trees and shrubs, will form impressive visual gateways to the district.
The north-south and east-west pedestrian streets form the green landscape axis, connecting the district’s central park, sports park and riverside park. The continuous and enjoyable pedestrian network extends through a variety of public spaces, providing a wide range of ecological habitats and places for seasonal activities and relaxation.
The blue-green landscape also includes a 50-hectare, biodiverse wetland park, further ensuring that Jiangjin CBD provides a wonderful balance of nature and urban life while creating an instantly recognisable landmark on Chongqing’s skyline.
