Our project Huma Eleven opens in Vienna
On the 3rd March 2016, the new shopping centre "huma eleven" in Simmering, Vienna, was opened to the public with great success.
The two-storey centre houses 60 retail and food outlets and comprises of around 30,000 m² of Gross Leasable Area.
Around 110,000 visitors turned up over the first three opening days, far exceeding the expectations of the investor and operator, the Munich-based Jost Hurler Group and SES-Spar European Shopping Centers respectively.
As general planner our studio in Dusseldorf was responsible for the architectural design, landscaping and interior. During construction Chapman Taylor acted as lead design architect, while ATP Vienna were responsible for technical design and delivery.
The interior design concept was inspired by the Danube River. An outstanding feature is the 200 m² “water world” in the central glass-covered atrium. A warm ambience is created featuring elements borrowed from nature in combination with light-filled spaces.
Total completion of the project is planned for 2017, at which time huma eleven will offer around 50,000 m² of GLA, 90 shops and 2000 parking spaces, making it the second largest shopping centre in Vienna.
