Salford City Council grants unanimous Outline Planning consent for Anchorage Gateway development
Unanimous consent has been granted by Salford City Council to an Outline Planning application for the Anchorage Gateway residential development at Salford Quays in Manchester.
The 29-storey scheme, designed by Chapman Taylor, will provide up to 290 apartments in a range of 1-bed, 2-bed and 3-bed configurations, complemented by amenity space for residents and visitors as well as a generous ground floor lobby and mezzanine space for socialising.
The building will be topped by an architectural “crown”, within which external terraces will provide amenity space, including a residents’ rooftop garden with dramatic views over Salford Quays.
The site acts as a gateway to Salford Quays and offers an opportunity to create a landmark building which will fittingly mark the urban transition to the taller, higher-density developments of the Salford Quays area, including MediaCityUK.
The L-shaped building footprint maximises the opportunity for active street frontage, helping to foster an active and vibrant scene at street level. This will help improve the pedestrian experience of the site, which is used by workers, residents and visitors due to the very close Metrolink tram stop.
Cole Waterhouse CEO Damian Flood says: “We are very pleased that our application for Outline Planning has been unanimously approved - we see this as being testament to the quality of the development we propose and the benefits that it will bring to Salford Quays. We believe there is a strong need for high-quality homes which meet market requirements in this location."
Chapman Taylor Director Michael Swiszczowski adds: “We are delighted that the Anchorage Gateway scheme has been given the go-ahead. The development will create the basis for a sustainable and vibrant residential community which enhances the area socially and economically while helping to provide much-needed, high-quality residential space in an attractive landmark building.
“We have very much enjoyed working with Cole Waterhouse to see how best we can realise the great potential of this gateway site and we look forward to seeing our shared vision realised in the near future."
Anchorage Gateway is the latest development in Chapman Taylor's growing residential portfolio across the UK, which has seen several schemes already handed over and fully occupied. We also have thousands more homes under construction, with many more in the pipeline.
