Shanghai masterplanning team visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Centre
The Shanghai masterplanning team and director Chris Lanksbury visited the Urban Planning Exhibition Centre at People Square in the city centre.
The urban planning centre has recently created a fantastic exhibition on six levels describing the urban development of Shanghai and its aspiration for a future highly sustainable city that is built by the people and for the people.
It explores the extraordinary growth of the city from the 1930s to the present day using videos, imagery, AI, interactive displays and exquisite physical models.
Its plans for the future include the introduction of the latest technological innovations and using ecology to protect and create a beautiful city as part of the “Shanghai 2035” objectives.
A futuristic ‘city lab’ is in development where professional urbanists can research future city development and innovations, as well as facilities to educate children about the city.
The Shanghai masterplanning team is constantly exploring the nature of the city and its many layers, and how to improve the quality of space and the life of its residents.
The exhibition defined the nature of the Chinese urban environment and generated many ideas on how we can improve our urban design strategies.
