Shopping Promenade Coeur Picardie wins a “Janus du commerce” award from the French Institute of Design
Frey Group has won the prestigious 2018 ‘Janus du Commerce’ award for Retail from the Institut Français du Design (French Institute of Design) for the Chapman Taylor-designed Shopping Promenade Coeur Picardie in Amiens.
The annual Janus Awards celebrate design excellence and are sponsored by the French Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade. Faced with the rise of online shopping, shopping centres need to reinvent physical retail in order to compete. The jurors recognised Shopping Promenade Coeur Picardie as having created a revolution in how French retail parks are conceived and designed.
The 40,000m² Shopping Promenade Coeur Picardie is located in the commercial area of north Amiens, offering 32 retail outlets and eight F&B offerings, including well-known names such as Mango, Armand Thiery and KFC. A food space includes a locally popular bakery and butcher’s shop.
The retail park also provides a free day-care section to entertain children between three and ten years old, as well as two large play areas for smaller children, so that their parents can enjoy the shopping experience.
Shopping Promenade Coeur Picardie has been a huge success since opening, surpassing the client’s expectations. More than 3.5 million visitors visited in the first seven months.
Shopping Promenade Coeur Picardie represented an investment of €50 million in Amiens and created 400 jobs for the region.
We are currently developing a second, similar type of retail park development for Frey Group near Paris – Shopping Promenade Claye-Souilly.
Congratulations to Frey Group and to everyone involved with the scheme for this well-deserved award.
