The Lexicon at Bracknell short-listed for a Civic Trust Award
The 2019 Regional Finalists have been revealed for the Civic Trust Awards , with The Lexicon at Bracknell named as one of the finalists.
The Regional Finalists will now be reviewed by the Civic Trust Awards Panel who will consider them for a National / International Award or Commendation.
The Civic Trust Awards scheme was established in 1959 to recognise outstanding architecture, planning and design in the built environment.
As the longest standing built environment awards scheme in Europe, since 1959, more than 7000 projects have been rewarded and the scheme has continued in its objective to recognise projects that have made a positive contribution to the local communities they serve.
The aim of the Civic Trust Awards is to encourage the very best in architecture and environmental design, to improve the built environment for us all through design, sustainability, inclusiveness and accessibility, but also to reward projects that offer a positive cultural, social, economic or environmental benefit to their local communities.
Bringing life back to Bracknell's town centre
Opened in September 2017, 'The Lexicon' redevelopment creates a mix of open and covered public streets, lined with contemporary retail units and complemented by a vibrant selection of restaurants, cafés and bars fronting new public squares. It comprises 70 retail, F&B and leisure units and a 1,300-space car park, while restaurants and bars front onto brand new public squares. The area is designed to remain a popular destination late into the evening.
National Finalists will be notified on Monday 17th December whether their scheme has been successful at National Panel stage (and therefore a 2019 Winner).
Winning schemes will be presented with an Award or Commendation at the 60th Annual Civic Trust Awards Ceremony on Friday 1st March 2019. The event will be held at Imperial War Museum and is sponsored by Sir Robert McAlpine.
