Trinity Kitchen in Leeds is five years old
Trinity Kitchen, Landsec's revolutionary F&B concept at Trinity shopping centre in Leeds, opened to much acclaim five years ago today. The street food venue, for which Chapman Taylor delivered Landsec's original design, has proved to be a remarkable success, inspiring similar developments throughout the UK.
Trinity Kitchen formed part of Landsec’s response to the evolution of the UK F&B market – setting a new benchmark for shopping centre dining by introducing a diverse mix of street food vendors, pop-up market stalls and emerging high street F&B brands, all set within a 1,900m² urban ‘warehouse’ environment.
Every six weeks, Trinity Kitchen invites six of the best street food vans, carts, sheds and trucks from across the UK, with the chosen vendors brought up from the street by hydraulic lift and in through an opening in the wall of the first floor. They are complemented by six permanent eateries, with the result being a diverse range of world cuisines brought together in one place.
The concept has proved so successful that Landsec rolled the concept out at some of its other properties, such as at Glasgow’s Buchanan Galleries. Revenue and visitor numbers quickly exceeded initial expectations by far, and Trinity Kitchen has set the benchmark for shopping centre F&B provision for all of Europe.
The overall Trinity Leeds development, designed by Chapman Taylor, attracts over 23 million visitors every year and has had an extraordinarily positive economic impact on the city, with the City of Leeds reporting an increase of two million annual visitors since its opening.
Among its many awards, Trinity was named ‘Best Retail Estate Development in a City Centre’ at the prestigious MAPIC Awards, 2013, as well as ‘Global ICSC RECON VIVA ‘Best of the Best’ shopping centre in the world in 2015. Trinity Leeds has helped catapult the city into 6th place on the UK’s hierarchy of top retail locations, with it being voted one of the UK's 'Coolest Brands'.
Chapman Taylor is proud to have delivered Landsec's concept for Trinity Kitchen, and is delighted at the positive effect it has given to the overall Trinity Leeds development.
Congratulations to Landsec and to everyone at Trinity Kitchen on this milestone. We look forward to another five years of gastronomic innovation.
