U•Center 2 in Bucharest achieves LEED v4 Platinum certification
Our long-term client, Forte Partners, has just announced that the Chapman Taylor-designed U•Center 2 office building in Bucharest has achieved LEED v4 Platinum certification in line with their Environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) objectives.
LEED v4 Platinum certification was awarded with a score of 88 to U•Center 2 following a detailed evaluation against eight key criteria, including; location and transportation links, project sustainability, water efficiency, energy and climate efficiency, materials and resources used, indoor environmental quality, innovation, and regional priority.
"U•Center2's LEED v4 certification attests to the building's sustainability and is also a validation of Forte Partners' approach to office project development, focused from concept and design through construction and delivery on energy efficiency and the health and well-being of our tenants' employees", said Stephen Burke, Director of Construction at Forte Partners.
The U•Center 2 office building, provides an impressive Gross Leasable Area (GLA) of 35,000 square metres. Construction was completed in August 2023, after 2 years on site and 2 years after the completion of U•Center 1 in Q3 2021. Phase 1 is now fully occupied by such esteemed tenants as, Booking Holdings, Endava, Lensa, Up Romania, BT, Neuroaxis, and DCS plus. In November 2022 U•Center 1 was acquired by Pavăl Holding, for a sum signifying a testament to its value in the market. U•Center 2 is currently 85% leased to tenants including; Glovo, Brinel, and Eurowag.
U•Center 1 also achieved the coveted LEED Platinum certification with a score of 85, one of the highest ratings in Romania for LEED v4 at the time, and also the WELL Health & Safety certification. In February 2023, this was consolidated by the awarding of WELL Platinum certification with a score of 91, the highest in Romania.
The U•Center development, comprising both U•Center 1 and U•Center 2, has significantly strengthened the business community in the Tineretului area, transforming it into a vital business hub, contributing to the local economy and providing much-needed amenities for the community.
This latest certification reaffirms U•Center as one of the pioneering developments in the Romanian real estate landscape, reflecting the need for energy-efficient and responsibly designed buildings. The assessment process was coordinated by BuildGreen, one of the leading sustainability consultants in Central and Eastern Europe.
The project reflects Chapman Taylor’s core objective to deliver adaptable and sustainable buildings, aligned with our overall carbon reduction objectives.
