UK Residential : Chapman Taylor shortlisted for International Housing Ideas Competition
Chapman Taylor UK has been shortlisted for the New Ideas for Housing international competition by New London Architecture (NLA) with ‘Umbrellahaus’. The shortlisted Ideas will feature as part of the forthcoming Housing Exhibition at the NLA galleries from October 15th.
The competition was launched to provide fresh thinking on how to unlock London’s housing supply and deliver more homes. The NLA were looking for a wide range of innovative ideas that would help to improve the speed, scale and quality of housing - from solutions for planning policy, land & funding to construction, procurement & design.
Chapman Taylor’s entry, Umbrellahaus, is a sustainable affordable offsite housing system that can be constructed at scale and speed to provide much needed housing for communities within London. It aims to deliver high quality lightweight construction that is adaptable to its context and which can be seamlessly integrated into the existing city fabric and is aimed at working under 35 year olds who currently face little prospect of acquiring a home in London.
The winners will be announced on October 14th.
