Three years after it opened, has MediaCityUK been a success? Ever since The Peel Group announced in late 2004 its vision to create a world-leading digital creative city – swiftly followed 2 years later by the BBC’s choice of the scheme as the location for its new northern broadcast hub – MediaCityUK can somewhat be seen as a runaway regeneration success story.
Right from the start, the ambition for this increasingly prominent, global mixed-use destination was always to benefit its immediate communities and the wider Manchester area beyond. As the Architect which undertook the design development of the masterplan and buildings for Phase 1 of the scheme, how did Chapman Taylor manage the interpretation of this vision and ultimately design the regeneration catalyst MediaCityUK has become?
