A world-class city centre regeneration project
The £440 million development of the Westgate shopping centre regenerates a run-down area of the city and transforms the existing centre into a 176,000m² retail and leisure destination.
Designed to revitalise a tired area of the city
The anchor tenant, John Lewis, and a diverse mix of over 100 stores, 25 restaurants and leisure facilities, are connected via a clear pedestrian circuit of new streets and squares. It will be capable of hosting a variety of events throughout the year within the central arcade and at rooftop restaurant level.
Chapman Taylor was the delivery architect and prepared the production information in conjunction with Laing O’Rourke’s engineering excellence group, using BIM technology.
The new centre is rated BREEAM Excellent for sustainability.
