Chapman Taylor designs interiors for Joy City Shopping Centre in Sanya, China
Chapman Taylor’s Interiors team has created a bright and modern design concept for Joy City Shopping Centre in the Chinese city of Sanya.
The 32,000m2 shopping centre, located in the core start-up area of Sanya's headquarters economy, hosts a comprehensive offer, including retail, catering, entertainment and other services. The centre’s focus is the provision of a variety of fashion brands, which are combined with leisure and entertainment options in a one-stop venue aimed at 18-35-year-olds.
The modern style uses clean, curved lines and neutral-to-warm colours to provide a sense of both calm and vibrancy, with excellent visibility throughout. Large, glazed roofs cover the main atrium spaces, allowing in abundant natural light, while escalators rise between levels in a design which creates a strong sense of dynamism and movement, reinforced by the shapes of the feature LED light installations.
The lower floors offer a sheltered and intimate commercial space, while the third to sixth floors host landscaped outdoor areas, including a rooftop bar, complementing the cultural and tourism functions on these levels. Our interior concept creates a clear distinction between the two spaces in terms of style and feel.
Our 18,200m2 interior design concept creates a bright and sleek environment across six floors of commercial space and the lower ground level, providing the ideal ambiance for the target demographic of younger, fashion-conscious shoppers.
