Chapman Taylor designs the 24-Hour District Command Centre for One Bangkok
Chapman Taylor has unveiled the interior design of the new District Command Centre (DCC) within the One Bangkok mixed-use district in Bangkok, Thailand. The One Bangkok US$3.9 billion development is poised to become a benchmark in smart, sustainable urban living.
Cutting-Edge Command Centre
Spanning 4,840m², the DCC is the nerve centre for One Bangkok, providing centralised services such as lighting, mechanical and energy management, safety, and security. Operating 24/7, the DCC ensures the well-being of everyone within the district through continuous monitoring and operations support. With more than 250,000 intelligent sensors, it manages all aspects of comfort and safety.
Advanced Infrastructure
The DCC ensures the efficient control of all One Bangkok systems around the clock. One Bangkok features over 3,000 streetlights that double as high-speed WiFi hotspots and more than 5,000 CCTV cameras to ensure comprehensive security. The DCC also oversees the District Cooling water system, which delivers chilled water throughout the district, enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability by lowering energy utilization by 22% compared to conventional HVAC systems.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The DCC houses several key facilities, including a control room, a security room, an incident room, a contact centre, offices, a training room and staff facilities.
Nature-Inspired Design
The interior concept of the DCC is inspired by nature, integrating green spaces from the adjacent Lumpini Park into the building’s design. This approach promotes well-being and sustainability, offering several benefits:
- Reduced Stress: Natural elements create a relaxing environment, enhancing productivity by reducing stress.
- Improved Health: Plants enhance air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.
- Enhanced Aesthetics: Natural colours improve the overall look of the office.
- Increased Comfort: Plants add moisture to the air, increasing humidity levels and lowering temperatures, creating a more comfortable workspace.
One Bangkok: A Vision for the Future
One Bangkok is set to redefine urban living in Bangkok. The development includes five office towers, three hotel/service apartment towers, interconnected retail podiums, art and cultural venues, and eight hectares of plazas and landscaped green spaces. The project is the first in Thailand to target LEED Platinum certification for neighbourhood development, incorporating sustainable features like centralised energy and water management systems and recycled materials.
