Chapman Taylor exhibiting four projects at Shanghai's Urban Planning Exhibition Hall

Co-creation: Design for a Better City | 2024 Shanghai’s High-Quality Practices in Spatial Design

On December 26, 2024, the "Co-creation: Design for a Better City" exhibition opened its doors at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. Organized by the Shanghai Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and various district governments, this exhibition highlights Shanghai's achievements in spatial design across "five new towns, infrastructure, and architectural design."

The exhibition underscores a collaborative ethos, showcasing projects designed by professional teams that emphasize innovation, theoretical exploration, and community involvement. These projects reflect a "people-oriented city" approach, uniting diverse sectors of society.

Chapman Taylor's Contributions

Chapman Taylor proudly presented four notable projects, drawing widespread attention for their innovative design and integration of human and environmental elements:

1. Bridge and Station Combination across Liuwu Highway
This project, located near Songjiang New City, features two cloud bridges and three riverside stations spanning a natural ecological tourism area. By integrating the local landscape and human activity, it creates connections between people and the environment.

2. Lily Bridge over Suzhou River
Connecting Putuo District’s M50 Creative Park and Jing’an District’s Hengfeng Road, this suspension landscape bridge embodies creativity and cultural fusion. As the first of its kind across the Suzhou River, the design merges humanistic, ecological, and artistic elements.

3. Yunqiao Road Caojiagou Bridge
Located in the Jinqiao Technology Development Zone, this project emphasizes regional culture and futuristic design. Sidewalks and landscape steps provide connections and rest spaces, enriching the pedestrian experience.

4. Lanlu Port Bridge on G318
Inspired by the imagery of "two carps playing in the water," this elegant structure combines aesthetic fluidity with symbolic significance, enhancing the natural beauty of the Mao River and Dianshan Lake confluence.

The exhibition continues to highlight how collaboration and innovation in design can transform urban spaces into dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable environments.
