Chapman Taylor Supports Hannah More Primary School Careers Fair in Bristol
Chapman Taylor recently participated in the Hannah More Primary School Year 6 Careers Fair, held on June 25th, 2024, as part of our client Socius's Community and Social Value program in Bristol.
In 2022, Chapman Taylor was chosen by Socius & Barings to develop the Soapworks mixed-use project in Bristol's St. Philips neighborhood. This collaboration underscored a mutual commitment to the local community. When the chance to join the Hannah More Primary School Careers Fair arose, both the Soapworks Socius Team and Chapman Taylor were enthusiastic about participating.
Representatives from Chapman Taylor's Bristol Studio, including Farayi Msipha and Seanne Christhian, attended the fair with an array of engaging materials. They showcased sketches, models, and an animation of Chapman Taylor's award-winning Castle Park View project. These visual aids served to illustrate the role of an architect to the attending students, promoting architecture as a viable and exciting career path.
The pupils at Hannah More Primary School displayed remarkable enthusiasm, engaging with the representatives and asking insightful questions about the architecture profession. They were curious about the responsibilities architects handle and the academic subjects necessary to pursue a career in this field.
Supporting events such as this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Chapman Taylors approach to supporting and mentoring the next generation of designers.
At Chapman Taylor, our UK studios offer a structured work experience programme for students in Year 10 and over studying in the UK. The programme is aimed at students interested in a career in the built environment. It provides the opportunity to work alongside architects, masterplanners, and interior designers in our London, Manchester, or Bristol studios.
During a one- or two-week placement, students will spend time in our studio, getting a taste of what working for a global architectural practice is like.
Chapman Taylor is also active in supporting Architectural Degree courses across the UK, through tutoring, mentoring and prize giving at the recent end of year shows and most recently hosting aspiring graduates during an Open Day event.
Chapman Taylor looks forward to future opportunities to engage with the St. Philips community and remains committed to supporting Socius's Community and Social Value program.
