Chapman Taylor takes part in Maggie’s Centres Cultural Crawl in memory of our late colleague Paul Truman
On Friday 27 September, 11 members of Chapman Taylor’s London team took part in a 10-mile walk as part of the Maggie's Centres Culture Crawl in memory of our late colleague Paul Truman.
Paul Truman worked as a Senior Architect and Associate Director at our London studio between 1998 and 2013. He contributed enormously to the success of landmark developments such as Cabot Circus in Bristol and Trinity in Leeds, as well as working on Liverpool Waters, Brent Cross in London, St Mark's in Lincoln and Whitefriars in Canterbury. Paul continued to work on masterplans with us after he was diagnosed with cancer, before passing away in 2013.
The aim of the evening was to raise money, in honour of Paul, for Maggie’s Centres – an incredible charity which offers practical and emotional support to cancer patients and their families.
On the walk, the team got exclusive access to Kensington Palace, the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A and the Science Museum, as well as visiting Olympia and the Royal Academy.
They also stopped at two Maggie's centres (Maggie’s West London and Maggie’s Barts), where they saw a glimpse of the wonderful support which the charity offers. There was also live entertainment along the route, including DJs and musicians (and a bagpipe player).
The team finished their long walk at Maggie’s Barts, where a much-appreciated meal of fish and chips was waiting for them at 2am, along with cocktails. Thank you to Maggie’s for your hospitality and for organising a very enjoyable evening.
You can donate to help Maggie’s Centres continue to perform their incredible work here.
