Chapman Taylor wins international design competition for Lugang Xi’an mixed-use development
Chapman Taylor has won an international competition to design a major mixed-use destination at Xi’an in China.
The scheme, strategically well-located beside the Weihe River and close to the West Han Highway and Xi’an Ring Expressway at Lugang Xi’an, will include a shopping centre, offices, hotels, entertainment and leisure provisions, providing a vibrant all-day destination for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Beautiful landscaped spaces will surround the striking, multi-level project, including relaxing riverside walks – serving to visually integrate the sustainable and attractive riverside community with its wider context.

The project will form part of a 44.6 km2 economic regeneration plan for Xi’an’s international port area. The urban plan will create two new towns which draw upon both western and Chinese themes, reflecting the Chinese government’s international Silk Way trade strategy.
