Chapman Taylor Director Mariia Grachova, based in our Brussels studio, has been selected as a jury member for a prestigious competition to design a new terminal at Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania. This competition, organised by Lithuanian Airports in collaboration with the Lithuanian Architects Union (LAS), seeks to identify the best concept for a cutting-edge terminal to address growing passenger demands.

The project goes beyond designing a new arrivals terminal; it also aims to integrate seamlessly with key infrastructure developments, including the future Rail Baltica underground station, a new departure terminal set to begin construction in 2025, and a revamped central square. The winning design will be implemented by the end of 2028, creating a state-of-the-art gateway for the Lithuanian capital.

The competition is part of a broader strategy to enhance passenger comfort and operational efficiency while modernising the airport's infrastructure. Architects are invited to submit proposals via Lithuania's Public Procurement System (CVP IS) by mid-February 2025. A specially assembled evaluation commission will assess the submissions in early 2025.

Mariia Grachova will join an esteemed panel of jurors, including Laura Kairienė (Chief Architect of Vilnius), Tom Holtmann (Partner at Nordic Office of Architecture, Norway), Rolandas Palekas (Head of Paleko ARCH Studio), and representatives from Lithuanian Airports. Together, they will evaluate entries based on qualitative criteria to select the most innovative and practical design.

This selection highlights Mariia’s expertise and Chapman Taylor’s reputation for shaping significant international transportation and infrastructure projects. For more details about the competition, visit the official website: www.vnocompetition.lt.
