Germany: New competition win for Chapman Taylor Dusseldorf
We are excited to announce that the Chapman Taylor Düsseldorf office, togther with the investor CEMAGG GmbH, have been announced winners of a competition for a new shopping centre in the German town of Weil am Rhein, close to the meeting point of the Swiss and French borders.
The centre shall be named 'Dreiländergalerie' – which translates to 'Three Countries Gallery' – reflecting it’s geographical location. The name and the fact that there will be a turning loop at the end of a new tram line from the adjacent Swiss town of Basel incorproated into the design proves its ambitions to attract customers from over the border.
Built into a steep site with a 15 m drop, known locally as the 'Hangkante' (Edge of Slope), the centre consists of 2 lower parking levels for 550 cars, 3 retail levels including a kindergarten on the roof, with a total GBA of around 55,000m2.
The competition shall be a proceeded by a public vote in spring 2015.
