Great turnout for “Let’s Build London” event

We were delighted to see a very impressive turnout for the Open City Families “Let’s Build London”event on Sunday 10 June.

Chapman Taylor teamed up with 18 Degrees and VMZINC to create a real town planning brief children and the young-at-heart to design and construct. Their challenge was to rebuild the area of London around the River Thames using only cardboard boxes and their imaginations.

The architectural vision and design on display was of a consistently high quality, involving varied, innovative and inspiring urban design solutions from tomorrow’s starchitects. We expect to see some of the best designs commissioned and implemented very soon to transform London’s skyline for the better.

Open City is a charity which promotes people-centred city design, organising year-round events to promote understanding of what makes for a people-friendly built environment.

Part of this year’s Open City Families architectural festival, theLet’s Build London’ event is designed to inspire the next generation of city-shapers.

We look forward to creating a new design challenge at next year’s event!
