Infinity mixed-use scheme in Tashkent features in first Uzbekistan showcase at MAPIC 2019
The Chapman Taylor-designed Infinity project in Tashkent will be showcased as part of the Uzbekistan stand at this year’s MAPIC festival in Cannes – the first time Uzbekistan has been represented at the event.
The 180,000m2 scheme will create a brand new type of retail-led, mixed-use development for the country, designed to create a sustainable and vibrant all-day, all-evening destination. The development will be strategically well-placed where one of the main traffic arteries to the city centre meets the main airport road.
A 100,000m2 shopping and entertainment centre will form the heart of the scheme, bringing well-known regional and international brand names to the city. The diverse retail offer will be complemented by a cinema, a rooftop street food venue and food court, a rooftop swimming pool, a children’s entertainment area and an outdoor amphitheatre for displays and performances.
Striking residential towers will line the main road, providing 20,000m2 of living space with deep, shaded balconies and beautiful views over the adjacent parkland space.
The 20,000m2 office component will sit within a glazed cube with a feature mesh cover for shading from the region’s strong summer sun. A rooftop terrace will provide a relaxing space for the building’s users – ideal for networking or holding informal meetings.
The retail, residential and office elements will each be defined by their own external architectural expressions, yet will form a visually coherent and unified whole. Colours and materials have been chosen to create a recognisably Uzbek architectural style in a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional streetscapes of the region.
Chapman Taylor provided the design concept for this landmark development on behalf of The Tower Mall Management Group. The large-scale scheme will be one of the first of its kind in Uzbekistan, and is expected to become a popular destination for people from all over Tashkent and the wider region.
