International Women’s Day 2025

#AccelerateAction

Each year on March 8th, people around the world come together to celebrate International Women's Day (IWD)—a movement officially recognised by the United Nations since 1977 but rooted in early 20th-century labour movements. More than just a celebration, IWD serves as a global call to action. In 2025, the message is clear: #AccelerateAction.

At Chapman Taylor, we have witnessed consistent progress across our 15 international studios, both in response to local contexts and on a global scale. From hosting, sponsoring, and supporting many events focused on building a more equitable work environment, to organising CPDs and training opportunities on workplace behaviours, unconscious bias, and professional development, we have taken meaningful steps forward. Our commitment extends to supporting apprenticeships, educational programs, and work experience initiatives, ensuring a more diverse and inclusive pipeline for future talent.

As we mark another IWD, it is important to recognise the positive steps made over the past year at Chapman Taylor. As a global business, we also recognise that different countries and cultures are at different stages of the journey in these important initiatives. To support the “Accelerate Action” programme this year, we are introducing a Chapman Taylor Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) International task force to help drive meaningful change across our practice. This group will embrace a full range of diverse voices from across our international team.

Our focus will be on actively supporting and collaborating with organisations that champion equity in the built environment, strengthening partnerships that drive meaningful change across the industry. We are committed to expanding our continuous professional development (CPD) programme to integrate a stronger DEI focus, addressing workplace well-being, and initiatives that support women’s health.

The outputs from these discussions will serve as a tool for monitoring where we stand as a global practice, guiding informed recommendations to the Group Board in order to really accelerate meaningful change within the business and across the wider industry. Our studios are already leading in key areas, and we are committed to further sharing best practices, refining our approach, and ensuring culturally appropriate responses as we work toward a more equitable future for all.

As we celebrate another International Women’s Day, it’s important to acknowledge the progress made over the past year at Chapman Taylor. As a global business, we recognise that different countries and cultures are at varying stages of this journey. In support of this year’s "Accelerate Action" initiative, we are launching the Chapman Taylor Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) International Task Force to drive meaningful change across our practice. This group will bring together a diverse range of voices from across our international team, ensuring a truly inclusive approach.

We will prioritise actively supporting and collaborating with organisations that advocate for equity in the built environment, encouraging partnerships that drive meaningful industry-wide change. We are also committed to enhancing our continuous professional development (CPD) program by integrating a stronger focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), promoting workplace well-being, and advancing initiatives supporting women’s health.

The insights gained from these discussions will be instrumental in assessing our progress as a global practice, enabling well-informed recommendations to the Group Board to drive meaningful and accelerated change within the business and the broader industry. Our studios are already at the forefront in key areas, and we remain committed to sharing best practices, refining our strategies, and ensuring culturally sensitive responses as we strive toward a more equitable future for all.
