Leisure Director David Wallace writes about how cinema has regained its place at the heart of our town centres
Chapman Taylor Leisure Director David Wallace has written an Insight paper on the remarkable resurgence of moviegoing in popular culture over the last 30 years, and the way in which cinemas have once again become a central feature of successful town centres.
In his paper, David argues that the role of cinemas as key community fixtures has come full circle, with the revival of many town centre venues and the continuing popularity of out-of-town cinema developments.
David has decades of experience in creating state-of-the-art cinema environments which enhance movie-goers’ experience and maximise value and impact for cinema developers.
Chapman Taylor has designed and delivered many of the world’s largest and most striking cinema projects – from the Reel Cinemas complex in Dubai Mall to Star City in Birmingham and the Cineworld venues at the O2 Arena, Leicester Square and Wandsworth in London. We have also designed intimate, boutique cinemas such as that at the Rove Downtown Hotel in Dubai.
