Muvi Mall of Dhahran, the largest cinema in Saudi Arabia, fully completes in Dhahran
The 18-screen Muvi Cinema at Mall of Dhahran, the largest cinema in Saudi Arabia, has fully completed in Dhahran with the opening of the venue’s state-of-the-art Dolby Cinema.
The new cinema is the latest in the ongoing roll-out of cinema developments for the Muvi brand across the country.
As well as the 318-seat Dolby theatre, the largest in the complex, the venue offers a range of cinema formats to choose between, including ScreenX, ONYX, Muvi Suites and standard theatres.
The design for the innovative cinema complex has a theme of urban downtown, with the intention of creating a dynamic, modern and memorable cinema experience. Internal spaces are characterised by an industrial, yet luxurious, material palette, including timber, exposed steelwork, exposed brickwork and an exposed concrete floor. The Muvi Suites area is designed for a sense of exclusivity, with marble floors, bespoke wool carpets, timber panelling and custom-made works of art.
The project was delivered under the guidance of Dubai studio Design Manager Rebecca Farmer, who has considerable experience in the successful delivery of technically complex cinema developments, in collaboration with Muvi Director of Construction Mohammed Hussain, Project Manager Compass Project Consulting and Main Contractor EDESCO, all of whom worked very hard to complete the project on an ambitious schedule.
In 2019, Chapman Taylor was engaged by Fawaz Al Hokair group to design and deliver a series of state-of-the art cinemas for their Muvi Cinemas brand, the first Saudi-owned cinema chain. Muvi Cinemas’ plan is to have 20 cinemas opened by early 2021, and we now are now halfway through that ambitious programme.
Our understanding of what adds value to the customer experience is essential in creating high-quality, efficient and exciting environments for people to enjoy. We strive to design the best cinematic experience available, combining state-of-the-art technology with simplified functionality to create maximum value for both clients and cinemagoers. This is why many of the best-known names in cinema choose to work with us repeatedly.
