Muvi U-Walk in Riyadh wins leading Cinema Award for “New Build Development of the Year”.
Muvi U-Walk, a cutting-edge cinema designed by Chapman Taylor for the Saudi Arabian city of Riyadh, has won a prestigious ICTA EMEA 2020 Award for “New Build Development of the Year”.
ICTA (The International Cinema Technology Association) is a global network of companies which specialise in the development, manufacture and servicing of the equipment used in movie theatres. Its European branch annually awards three cinema operators which champion innovation in cinema exhibition with ICTA EMEA awards.
Due to current pandemic-related travel restrictions, an online awards ceremony will take place in October.
Opened in 2020, Muvi U-Walk is home to two new formats for Saudi Arabia - Dolby Cinema and Samsung Onyx. The venue includes a ScreenX theatre, Muvi suites and regular cinema screens.
The cinema can accommodate 1,400 people across its 13 screens, which show a mix of regional, Hollywood and Bollywood films to moviegoers.
Chapman Taylor designed and delivered this state-of-the art cinema on behalf of Muvi Cinemas, which is the first Saudi-owned cinema chain.
