Planning consent agreed for the regeneration of Angel Place Worcester, UK
Angel Place, part of Friary Walk at the Crowngate Shopping Centre
Our project for The Crown Estate has received a resolution to grant planning permission to transform Angel Place, part of Friary Walk at the Crowngate Shopping Centre, with a £1.5m investment to create an exciting, modern shopping environment and rejuvenated public space.
Central to the regeneration plan is the refurbishment of the façade and main entrance to Friary Walk, which is already home to retailers including New Look, Mothercare and Vision Express. The frontage of Angel Place will be upgraded in a traditional style that is in keeping with the surrounding architecture.
The approved plans will complete the regeneration of Angel Place as a market place and public square, and enhance the character and appearance of the Historic City Conservation Area.
The project will also see the reconfiguration of units within Friary Walk. With a more flexible range of uses, granted as part of the planning consent, the renovation of units will encourage an exciting mix of new businesses, retailers and restaurants to come to Worcester city centre.
The planning application represents the first phase of a staged redevelopment of the existing Friary Walk centre as part of The Crown Estates asset enhancement of this important City Centre development.
It will revitalise this important city centre destination and attract more people to the area by creating a vibrant place to visit and shop. The Angel Place regeneration works are expected to commence in early 2018.
