Retail and Leisure: Mall of Qatar - Welcome Aboard Event
On 31st of May, our mega project the Mall of Qatar organised a welcome aboard event for all the major anchor retailers signed up to be a part of this world leading retail scheme.
By invitation of UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Company LLC, also known as UCC who is the developer of Mall of Qatar, this event was attended by hundreds of future tenants and many of the design, development and construction businesses responsible for the schemes award winning design.
Javier Vieiro and Jan Dijkema from our Madrid design studio attended the event on behalf of Chapman Taylor.
The Mall of Qatar is set to be one of the largest shopping malls in the world and will be completed in October 2016.
The Mall is set to attract visitors from the Gulf states as it is also located next to the new railway that will link Qatar and the other Golf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates) in 2019.
The expansive 450,000-sq-m Mall of Qatar provides visitors with 7,000 parking spaces, a premium Carrefour hypermarket, a family entertainment area of 16,500 sq m featuring KidzMondo, an impressive scaled-down miniature city, Salam luxury department store, over 100 restaurants, 500 stores, an indoor streetscape with double height flagship stores from across the globe.
It will also have a Cinemacity complex of 19 cinema screens including the largest Imax laser 3D in the world, two signature restaurants and a five-star Fashion Hotel composed of 210 rooms operated by Curio Collection Hilton.
Brands already signed up include Virgin Megastore, Hamleys, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Hallmark, Gant, Vans, Timberland, Reiss, Levi, Zara, Dune London, DKNY, Jo Malone, Next, Topshop, Debenhams, Boots and many others.
