Retail: Foundation Stone Ceremony in Wuppertal, Germany

On 9 November 2016, the symbolic foundation stone ceremony took place on the Döppersberg construction site in Wuppertal, described by Enda Woods - one of the two founders of the Irish investor Signature Capital - as the most important post-war urban development project in Wuppertal.

The centrepiece of the development is a 5-storey commercial building for the fashion discounter Primark, which will be opened in 2018 at the same time as a bridge, flanked by shops, over an adjacent highway. The bridge will offer a direct connection for pedestrians between the station and the city centre.

From the investor’s point of view, the construction site could not be running more smoothly. “We are right on schedule, there is no need to speed things up”, says Timo Herzberg, managing director of Signature Capital Germany.
