Retail: Topping Out Ceremony for HUMA Einkaufspark in Vienna
The next milestone in the realisation of the HUMA Einkaufspark in Vienna has been completed. After merely 9 months of construction work the topping-out ceremony took place on September 2. Despite a tight schedule, construction of the shopping centre is progressing well towards the planned opening in spring 2016. The completion of the whole centre is scheduled for 2017.
The Jost Hurler Group from Munich is the owner of the shopping centre, while SES Spar European Shopping Centers, who have been operating the HUMA Einkaufspark for years, are the general tenant.
Chapman Taylor is responsible for the design, while the delivery is being carried out by ATP architekten ingenieure.
HUMA Einkaufspark will have a GLA of 50,000 m² with over 90 shops on offer. The design is distinguished by an expressive folding external façade, which allows for clear views to the main entrances and gives shape to the more than 300m long building. The transparency of the entrance areas and the champagne to bronze colours selected for the metal façade provide for a friendly and varied appearance.
The centre is situated in immediate vicinity to the Danube. The theme of the Danube river bank is reflected in the design of the mall and provides an interesting contrast to the architectural language of the external façades.
Chapman Taylor is supporting SES Spar European Shopping Centers during the construction phase in design-related issues in order to ensure that the final design meets their requirements while conforming to the original design intent.
