‘Three Countries Gallery’ - from competition-win to open!
Dreiländergalerie, or Three Counties Gallery, is opening tomorrow, right on schedule. Chapman Taylor’s Düsseldorf studio, together with the investor CEMAGG GmbH, won a competition to design and develop the scheme.
This 63,000m² GBA mixed-use destination combines three retail levels, a fitness centre and three parking levels for 586 cars. It will attract visitors from across the Swiss border in Basel, aided by a new tram line from there complete with a turning loop.
The 75 retail outlets within cater for fashion, lifestyle and more. They are distributed over the three retail levels of the terrazzo-floored mall. There is also a food court on the first floor and a children's play zone in the basement.
The attractive development is surrounded by high-quality public realm spaces. There are also about 220 bicycle parking spaces outside. As part of the development, the "Alte Badische Zollhaus" (Old Baden Customs House), has been restored and revitalised in close cooperation with the monument preservation authorities.
