Transport: Chapman Taylor chosen to improve passenger experience at Prague airport
Chapman Taylor has been selected following a two stage design competition held by Czech Aeroholding a.s. to provide design and consultancy services at Prague’s Vaclav Havel Airport.
Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague is already regarded as one of the best European airports, consistently scoring highly in customer satisfaction surveys. However, there is still scope for improvement and Czech Aeroholding are aiming to enhance the passenger experience by providing new and coordinated passenger facilities and by introducing design elements into the terminals that reflect the cultural, historical and geological diversity of Prague and the Czech Republic as a whole. The initial focus is on the refurbishment of the original 1968 Terminal 1 arrivals area together with the introduction of a much needed Welcome Centre.
Chapman Taylor will also be working alongside the Airport’s operations team and commercial advisers to assist in remodelling the retail and food & beverage areas to provide a more balanced and attractive offer for all passenger groups.
The first works are due to be implemented during 2016 with further improvements being dovetailed with other construction projects designed to extend the scope of the airport’s operations. Further plans also include the improvement of the transportation infrastructure to the airport which will bring benefits to passengers and well wishers by making the journey from Prague city centre and back simpler and more efficient.
